The Water Quality Laboratory of Veolia Djur CJSC in Ijevan exercises control over the quality of water supplied to about 30 thousand consumers of the town and 2 adjacent villages. For this purpose planned water quality control is made according to the schedule, also samples are taken after breakdowns, and sometimes there is a need for non-planned analyses.
The importance and responsibility of the Laboratory is apparent for ensuring the water quality. In addition, this is a hard work requiring specific approach. The matter is that water is supplied to Ijevan town from numerous sources with small water outlet unlike the other settlements receiving water from 1-2 large sources. Consequently, the number of examinations and sampling points are bigger, which brings increase in workload and thus the growth of the Company attention to the Laboratory needs.
Last year the upgrade of the Laboratory with new equipment was completed ensuring full examination in terms of chemical analyses, in particular: turbidity meter 2100Qis, device DR-300 for measurement of the residual chlorine quantity, pH Meter for defining the acid-alkaline balance, distilling device, refrigerator.
At present the results are obtained more quickly and more accurately.
Recently the Laboratory has been provided also with opportunity for conducting microbiological examinations. This was very important as previously for this purpose the samples were sent to the Sevan Laboratory which was time-consuming and required additional transport. Now a high-quality filtration device envisaged for 3 samples simultaneously, as well as thermostats and autoclave are available.
In short the Laboratory of Ijevan has “a final appearance”, and Gohar Ghalumyan, the sampling and laboratory assistant, is happy with having everything necessary for routine work.
